The City of Waverly has reached a milestone. For a full decade, Waverly has received a Tree City USA award from the Arbor Foundation. The incident happened in a matter of minutes, Berg said, adding that police and firefighters did their best.

A Redding attorney on Tuesday dropped an effort to obtain a restraining order against a Redding police lieutenant on behalf of a teenager and the boy's family. That civil court case stems from allegations made by the boy that Lt. Allen Long hit, kicked and threatened to kill him and four of his friends in January during a confrontation outside a home that the officer is building in Redding.
